Basic Rider Course

Great instruction team. I have ridden before, but not much on the street.
We started from the basics, and advanced to additional skills.
The class had all levels of riders, and the instruction team was able to
challenge everyone, without overwhelming anyone.

Basic Rider Course

Just wanted to say that as a brand new learner to the world of
motorcycles, I had such a wonderful experience on the course and in the
classroom. I'm bad with names but Brian, Dennis and the other coach were
all really great. Raul's pace in the classroom was appropriate and well
timed. I enjoyed myself and look forward to the opportunity to take more
classes to build on my skill.

Basic Rider Course

I had Matt and Chris for my instrustors in the ssf class and they made
it a great experiance. They were detailed in showing us the right way to
ride and it shows how they really care about making sure we were doing it
the right way. I would recommend them to anyone who was looking for a
begginer riding class.

Basic Rider Course

I just completed the basic rider course and feel that every new
rider should do it. The instructors Chris, Brian and Matt were patient and
supportive. They give constant feedback and guidance and I learnt a lot. The
skills that I learnt on the course will definitely make me a safer rider.
Overall a great training program with great instructors.

Basic Rider Course

I felt this course was great!
The classroom courses could be more interactive, but still did exactly what
they need to....teach the rules to riding safely.
The riding days were perfect. The guys were awesome. They were patient and
informative, which i think the goal should be for a beginner course teacher.
At no point did I see anyone lose their cool, pressure anyone, or get
frustrated (if they did I couldnt tell. haha).
They were 100% professional, encouraging, and explained everything
thoroughly. Started off slow enough for new riders, but did not hold people
back either who maybe had more experience. Made sure everyone was ready
before moving forward, and got us up to speed on how to ride a bike.
This class is super useful. If you think you can't ride a bike but want to,
you're wrong. This is a great place to start. I'd recommend it and have.

Basic Rider Course

I took the basic Rider course in October 27, 29 & 30 2011.
Classroom instructor Brian Pound was precise, organized and to the point.
The class was informative, the format of learning was good to learn fast and
retain what was taught. The course was doing exercises, watching informative
videos and of course a test. Thank goodness the videos were short. It goes
by very quickly. Short sweet and to the point !!!
Our instructors, Brian and Matt for Saturday were awesome. Very calm and
knowledgeable. They were encouraging those who like me were not so confident
to ride. They point out flaws in your riding, like not using both brakes or
keeping your elbows too stiff. There is a variety of motorcycles, ranging
from Honda Rebel/nighthawk to a taller dirt-bike. There was even one SCOOTER
FOR ME :). Matt was so much fun; he made me become comfortable riding my
scooter around all the big bikes.
Sunday, the big day was with Chris and Dennis; what I call the moment of
truth. Definitely, the most strenuous and challenging. But by the end of
the day, all the hard work of all the instructors are complete as I passed
evaluation. What a relief and had the rest of the day to enjoy.
Today, I am riding around with confidence and safety.
Thank you all and you all deserve a big raise !!!!

Basic Rider Course

I took the course in October as a birthday gift from my boyfriend,
and we both had a wonderful time - the rider coaches were fantastic. Very
experienced, willing to joke around with us and make the experience fun. I'd
never driven a motorbike before but I am now planning to buy one. I feel
that the course gave me enough information, practice, and confidence to do
that - but I'll be back to try the Street Rider course as well, to make sure
I keep improving. Thanks again!

Basic Rider Course

I took the basic Rider course in August 2011 in order to
learn to ride and forgo the DMV test. I took the course with
my girlfriend and we had a great time. She was somewhat hesitant,
but at the end of the course, she was having a lot of fun.
The course is very thorough. You start out with a class room course, doing
exercises and watching videos. It goes by very quickly. There is a variety
of motorcycles, ranging from Honda Rebel/nighthawk to a taller dirt-bike.
There was even one scooter. All were easy to control beginner bikes.
They start you off with learning the controls of the bike, practicing with
the clutch and then eventually you start riding and learning various skills.
At the end of the 2nd day, you perform a 4 part evaluation.
Our instructors, Brian and Chris were awesome. Very calm and
knowledgeable. They were encouraging those who dropped their bikes
to get up and keep going. They also constantly point out flaws in
your riding, like not using both brakes or keeping your elbows too stiff.
All in all, the course is a great way to learn to ride and feel comfortable
riding a motorcycle. The early morning option is great because it frees up
the rest of your day on the weekend. However, make sure to get a proper
rest on Saturday night because the first Sunday exercise is quite
challenging.

Basic Rider Course

Great program, great instructors, over all great experience. I had
never ridden a motorcycle before, i had no idea how when i entered the
class, two days later and Im ready to buy my first bike. If you have been
debating taking the class for a while, just drop the $250 and do it, its
worth every penny.

the class and all the drops. if i had a complaint it would be that
12 people leaves limited riding time when some of the group is falling

The instructors were fantastic! They were encouraging and thorough
with instruction. Matt and Chris were great! I am confident in my riding
ability after never being on a bike before. This was a major accomplishment
for me and their help got me to my goal. I would definitely recommend this

Basic Rider Course

I am writing to comment on my instructors for the Basic Rider
Course on 13 and 14 August at Westborough Middle School (Brian and Chris).
They were both extremely helpful and positive, making the experience
fun and highly educational. I would highly recommend them to anyone
who was interested in motorcycle training.
Brian also taught my classroom portion (11 August) and was very good. He
always made sure questions were answered fully and honestly.
I am grateful to them both for taking my riding to the next level.

Basic Rider Course

Raul from the class session is so awesome, flexible, and makes the
class just great overall. He made the class exciting, unlike another class I
had before which was really boring and didn't get to learn as much as I did
with his.
Matt and Chris from the Riding sessions were also just awesome! They were so
informative and just had positive attitudes the whole time. They give great
feedback to help better your skills which I think is very important because
it's a different roadway outside the riding session classes. They made sure
we all got everything down and had the basics registered in our heads before
our evaluations which made me feel comfortable and confident having my
lessons given by them as coaches.

Class July 28th, 30-31AM weekend range: After not riding for over
twenty years the guys were fantastic. Raul, Chris, Brian, and Josh were very

I have never been on a motorcycle, so you can imagine how scary it
was for me on the first day at the range. The 2 coaches there (Marcus and
Rocky) were great. They all were knowledgeable and at the end I was able to
pass the evaluation. Even though I passed the evaluation at the end, I
would feel more at ease if we have 15 minutes to ourselves to practice on
the exercises that we were least good at before the evaluation.
I would highly recommend anyone that thinks about riding to take this course.
It is so well worth it.

I wanted to share my experience last weekend at the South San
Francisco location. I had never been in the drivers seat of a motorcycle
before, only a passenger. I've been wanting to get my license for years
now, but have been apprehensive about it because of accidents I have
witnessed as an EMT. My nerves were put at ease and I felt comfortable and
confident with my skills after taking the course. Granted, I have a lot of
practice to do, but I definitely feel like I learned the basics well enough
to practice on my own and with my riding friends. Brian, Matt and John were
patient, highly knowledgeable and effective instructors! Thanks for the
great experience!.

Basic Rider Course

I completed the Basic Rider course yesterday, came home and
had the confidence to get on my new 750cc cruiser and ride!
Without this class I wouldn't have the basic skills necessary
to be out on the roadway.
I want to personally thank Raul for his energy, patience, time,
and knowledge of anything and everything related to motorcycles
and riding. Raul's passion for this hobby was evident from the
moment I walked into the classroom session to the end of the
riding session. I am already looking forward to the advanced
rider course, only if Raul is teaching it that is!
I would also like to thank B.P. and Matt who were both very
helpful and excellent rider coaches.
This is an awesome program and I thank you for offering it to
us "new riders."

was in pouring rain, sometimes causing the bikes to stall and

What a stormy weekend! Chris, Matt, and Brian *must* enjoy
teaching new riders. Their dedication, encouragement, and
advice never faltered. They had no complaints about the rain.
They never lazily hid underneath the over hangs. They were

The training course was great! I only wish we were allowed
to do more laps on the motorcycle. The classroom instruction
was like being in any other classroom. Raul did his best
to entertain and teach, which is difficult when you're in
a classroom for 5 hours. All in all, I'd recommend this course
to anyone interested in riding. I had absolutely no riding
experience prior to this course and I picked things up pretty
quick. Thanks, Raul, Matt, and Chris! It was a pleasure.

What an amazing program - to think that in two days you

appendage of your body to preform a different combination

Chris, Matt, and Bryan (Brian?) taught a great class.
They work very well as a team, and know how to motivate
and encourage us without being pushy. I'm a little sore in
the legs, but I had a very positive first riding experience,
thanks to them.
I will definitely recommend this class to others, although
I do wish that the pace of the classroom lesson was far
faster and less group-focused.

The course was a great one to take, and our instructions Chris and
Matt were top notch, A++.
My wife and I just completed the course this weekend, and with no riding
experience the patient and clear instructions made it possible to learn how
to ride safely. The course built up from the ground up and every exercise
gave us additional confidence and reinforced basic skills. I can't emphasize
enough how valuable the patient instruction by Chris and Matt were. Thank
you guys!!!

Just wanted to thank Chris for his patience and his help. It was a great experience at the range and I felt that he really wanted to help each student get the most out of it and leave with the confidence that they will be safe out on the road. I didn't feel that we were rushed to finish the course outline. Of course it helped that there were only 6 of us in the group that weekend . She was clear and precise in her instructions and her sense of humour kept us constantly engaged. I just completed the 3 day class with Chris as my instructor. Chris has the perfect personality for this class. He was informative, fun, encouraging, patient & thorough. He made sure everyone was comfortable and learning while having a good experience. He checked in with everyone individually as well as a group. I had never ridden before and by the time we finished the class i felt very comfortable. I actually didn't need a motorcycle class per se as i just bought a Vespa but my skills are much more honed now...and I feel much more comfortable. In fact i spent 4 hours "scooting" around San Francisco Sunday very confidently!

Basic Rider Course

I wanted to write Bike Smart, in order to acknowledge my instructor, Chris. I just successfully completed the course, and I wanted to thank and compliment Chris. In regards to myself, I am disabled and have several handicaps.
During the 3 days of instruction, Chris was always taking the time to inquire if I needed breaks, if he could assist me in any of the motorcycle operations, and when things became seemingly overwhelming or I got discouraged, Chris was there to encorage me with a kind word or extra instruction. Additionally, Chris showed great patience, in providing instruction to all class participants.
Among the class, were some experienced riders, mixed in with those who had never ridden a motorcycle, and Chris was able to adjust his instruction and teaching to adapt to all participants levels, all the while keeping the class informative and fun.
I would reccommend this Bike Smart class to any prospective or current motorcycle rider, and I would highly recommend that they request Chris as their instructor.
Thanks Chris, I hope to enjoy many years of accident free, safe motorcycleriding.

I took the course on March 30th, May 2nd & 3rd. John & Rick were the course instructors on Saturday and John & Chris on Sunday.
All were great! Each one gave individual instruction where needed and
always were patient and kind. The only critisism I can offer is that at
the completion of the course, they didn't tell those of us that passed
what we needed to work on. I passed but did not have a perfect score.
It just would have been nice to know what I did well at and what I
needed more work on. Otherwise, a great course to take! As the only
woman in the class, everyone treated me with respect and made me feel
like part of the group. Thanks!.

I thouht this was a great class, Chris, Rick, and James were all very nice and patient. I had experience with dirt bikes but very minimal with street bikes but they taught me very well.....I got a perfect score on the riding evaluation test!! I would tell anybody to take this class to

motorcycling. I have learned a lot and the rider coach (John Finan)
is definitely one of the best around! I am difinitely recommending
this BRC to anyone I know who is interested in learning how to ride.

I couldn't believe how informative and fun this course was. It was
well worth waking up at 5:30 am to be there on time...and you couldn't
ask for better coaches!

The class and riding sessions were incredibly informative. The lessons learned easily translate to your own motorcycle with an ability nowhere near what a textbook could bring.
I would (and am!) highly recommend the training through Bikesmart.
How on earth two ride instructors can organize 8-9 students all day, I will never know.
I am very pleased!!

The rider-coaches did an excellent job. Specifically, Paul was very
enthusiastic about riding and extremely patient. Rick was super friendly
and gave encouragement as I became frustrated with the U-turn exercise.
I can't remember the third rider-coaches name but he was also passionate
about riding. I felt like each rider-coach genuinely wanted to help us
learn to ride and that it wasn't just a job to them. I have already
recommended your service to several friends and family members.

Great course - Classroom and Range "coaches" were great.

Very informative. More fun than the first time I took the class 15 years
ago. The instructors at the riding sessions are saints and seem to care
very much that all of the students understand and apply the concepts. I
will be back for the Experienced Rider Course!

I was late for my first class and my slot was handed out to a standby student. I had to wait for a month before I could take the class again as a standby student. The wait was worth it. The video instructions and the instructors were fantastic. I really learnt a lot from them. My advice to other students is to be ahead of time for each session.
I can't wait to take the advanced rider course.
